PDP Youths TO Host Football Tourney in 2014

The National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Abdullahi Maibasira, has made known his intention to organise a football championship next year to further consolidate on the gains of President Goodluck Jonathan in the area of sports.

Maibasira disclosed this in his office in Abuja while addressing journalists where he called on Nigerian youth in particular and Nigerians in general to reflect on the unity and peace of the country.
“Part of the programmes that we hope to achieve in 2014 will be to consolidate on the gains of Mr. President in the area of sport. We would be hosting the first PDP football championship which will kick off in Kaduna state,” Abdullahi said.
He said if not for the just concluded National Youth Games in Abuja, the championship would have held this year.
“We are rescheduling the programme to 2014 and it will involve all the 36 states and the FCT. It will also serve as avenue to further unite the youth of the party.
“As you know the President has been able to make tremendous gain in the area of sport, football specifically with various medals and cups the country won in 2013, it is a clear testimony to that,” he said
